INDUSTRY LINGO: WHO IS A QP?
QP: Qualified Person
It is confusing enough to navigate the construction industry when looking for someone to build your dream home, or design your first corporate building. The last thing you need is to be weigh down by lingos of the industry. In this article, we share what it takes to be a QP (qualified person) and their roles.
A Qualified Person is a person who is registered as an Architect with the Board of Architects (BOA) or a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB); and has a valid practising certificate issued by the BOA or PEB, respectively.
Only a Qualified Person (QP) is able to make applications on behalf of the owner, perform submissions and correspond with the Authorities. Different types of building work requires either a QP (Architect) or a QP (Professional Engineer). These are easily advised by a QP.
